I just returned from attending the Restoring Honor Rally at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. The crowd spread from the Lincoln Memorial to the hill in front of the Washington Monument. Estimates are between 500 and 600,000 people. Although if you listen to the media reports, it was under 100,000. I know it was crowded. Each person there was lucky to have a 3 foot circle to call their own. I met people from California, Texas, Indiana, North Carolina, Georgia. I won’t go on. You know the names of the states. There were all represented. And some from other countries as well.
I heard Glenn Beck on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace this morning and Glenn was asked how he felt about so many people coming to see him. ‘They’ just don’t get it. I did not go to see Glenn Beck. I greatly admire all he’s done to raise awareness that our nation is in a fight for its very freedom but, I went to stand for freedom, honor, respect, and integrity. These words have become empty and meaningless in today’s society.
This event was not political. There were no party signs. In fact the only sign I saw was after the rally and it said something like this, “I am black, I am American, Why are you afraid of me?” The sign was walking down the street with about 7-10 black men coming from the direction of the Rev. Al Sharpton’s event. I thought, how arrogant, I’m not afraid of you. You are a fellow citizen. We are ALL Americans. On the day that Martin Luther King said in his famous speech “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” These young men had not given any thought to character only the color of their skin. I thought we haven’t come very far.
Back to the event… It was an event to honor our history, our country, our military and our God. What an honor it was to be with 100’s of thousands of people, to be able to stand together, pledge allegiance to our country, honor our military, sing Amazing Grace and praise our Creator in open air, sent directly to the heavens so that God could hear us as we prayed without barrier. (Not that He couldn’t hear us anyway, but it appeared that heaven was fully open to us just waiting to receive our prayer.)
2 Chronicles 7:14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
The bigger picture of the event has been lost on many. They weren’t even there but seem to ‘know’. They still believe it’s about right and left and Democrat and Republican. If you’re on the left and you want change or if you’re on the right and you want change, it will not happen with government or political parties. It must begin in the individual. Raise up the shield of faith for America by starting with your own.
American needs to get back to its roots. When you’re cut off from the vine there is only slow death. If you don’t believe me, cut a rose off the vine and watch what happens.
